Plush velvets are a great choice if you have pets, the velvet is oh so soft, very durable and easy to clean - the short pile and tightly packed threads make it hard for dirt or fur to imbed into the fabric and in most cases a quick brush is all that’s needed to lift pet hair and leave it looking as good as new. The rub count on this fabric comes in at 45k, a heavy duty count which is made to withstand high traffic environments without fraying or wearing out quickly. Perfect for kids, pets and/or frequent guests!

For those that love leather and want something very durable with built in scratch resistance, our cuba leather sofas could be just the thing. Finished with a durable cracked wax finish they are so hardwearing with a durable barrier that's easy to wipe down, a tough layer against scratches with additional protection against signs of wear. These tend to be a little firmer in finish as the hot wax finish gives a touch layer of protection so they stay looking “as good as new”.

At the other end of the spectrum we have our aniline leathers which have nothing added to the finish. They are entirely natural meaning they soften and ‘wear in’ over time developing their own natural patina or “fingerprint” - the signature of the premium leather. This means your sofa will develop a ‘lived in’ vintage look over time - including from use by family pets. As such marks will just become part of the look of the sofa - so the question is really whether this aesthetic is for you…

Our hand antiqued and rubbed leathers sit somewhere between aniline and cracked wax finishes when it comes to the vintage aesthetic- the process of adding dye to the leather adds durability and scratch resistance, with this extra protective barrier, they sit between the two finishes in terms of softness - without the cracked wax finish, they are softer, but they will also mark a little more readily, that said - the hand rubbed dye finish does give an additional level of protection and exquisite depth of colour to the sofa and marks become part of the overall "vintage look" of the collections.

One of the best ways to know if your sofa will truly stand the test of time is to look at the durability of its upholstery. In the UK, this is measured by Martindale rub count. The Martindale test uses a machine that repeatedly rubs a piece of worsted wool or sandpaper against the fabric in a circular motion. Each cycle is counted as a rub, and the process continues until the fabric shows visible wear, such as thread breaks or changes in appearance. The higher the rub count, the more durable the fabric, so you can choose a sofa that’s ready for everyday life (and then some). You'll be pleased to note that of course we are very concerned with the long term longevity of materials, you'll note our Plush, Duke and Trinity fabrics are both extremely durable high rub counts made for long term use.
We always recommend using throws and sheepskins - our sheepskins in particular, seem to be adored by cats and dogs as they are so soft - they love to snuggle up in the long pile and we find they tend to head straight for that over the fabric on your sofa or chair. It’s worth knowing our sheepskins are washable, you just need a sheepskin friendly PH neutral detergent so you can keep these nice and fresh too. Our faux fur throws are another handy option - wonderfully soft, they come in a generous size to provide loads of coverage on your furniture if you wish as well as a nice warm, snuggly spot.
For peace of mind you can get no better protection than our Loxa Cover Insurance. Our insurance covers you for pet related incidents over a 5 year period (valid for up to 3 claims), this includes rips from claws and stains giving you complete peace of mind knowing your investment is protected should the unexpected happen.
Our fabric and leather care kits are a great way to protect your future investment, the kits come with a stain remover and protector to ensure that your furniture remains looking tip top at all times.
