As we settle into 2026, interior design is shifting in a way that feels refreshingly familiar to us at Vintage Sofa Co. Homes are becoming warmer, more personal and designed for real life - not just to be looked at, but truly lived in.
Pantone's 'Colour of the Year' may be at the paler end of the spectrum, but generally stark neutrals are giving way to softer, warmer palettes that create instant comfort.
Goodbye grey - and honestly, it’s about time. After years of dominating our interiors, cool, flat greys are finally stepping aside. In their place? Warmer, richer tones that bring depth, character and a much more inviting feel to our homes - earthy browns, olive greens and warming, dusky blues which add depth without overwhelming a space. We thoroughly approve! Colour adds soul, it makes a space feel human, layered, and loved, which aligns perfectly with our vintage-inspired ethos.
Brown is the new black - browns provide a softer, more approachable alternative to stark black, while aubergine and burgundy tones introduce a sense of heritage and enduring sophistication.
These palettes reflect a broader desire for interiors that feel grounding and restorative, spaces you want to sink into at the end of the day, spaces that are sanctuaries. We love how colour brings personality, optimism, and individuality into homes. Our customers come to us because they want spaces that feel like them, not copy-paste. This is probably one of the biggest changes in 2026 - interiors that no longer require perfection, instead spaces that reflect our real lives, intentionally collected, perfectly imperfect.
Living rooms, in particular, are set to take centre stage. They offer the ideal canvas for injecting personality, from bold paint choices to textured fabrics and meaningful finishing touches that turn a room into the heart of the home.
Vintage design has always been rich in colour, from deep velvets to punchy mid-century tones. We reinterpret that heritage in a modern way, proving that colour can be enduring, not trend-chasing.
After years of rigid minimalism, furniture in 2026 is finally embracing comfort - properly. For us, this isn’t a trend; it’s always been our starting point. We design our sofas to be generous and to make the most of their footprint, whether the collection is substantial or on the smaller side of the spectrum. We provide a wide variety of seating options, many of which are on the deeper side, all are thoughtfully cushioned, designed for long evenings, weekend lounging and homes built around connection.
Comfort shouldn't comes at the expense of design. Sculptural silhouettes, quality materials and well-engineered support mean furniture can feel relaxed and refined at the same time. These are pieces made for real life - and made to last.
We love that fact that interiors in 2026 are richer and more tactile than ever. Buttery, aniline leathers, natural wool, vibrant velvets and soft sheepskins bring warmth and visual depth, favouring materials that age gracefully over anything overly polished or perfect. Texture plays a vital role in creating spaces that feel inviting, comfortable and genuinely lived-in, rather than styled for show.
For us, we find that rugs anchor a room and add character, especially when layered for a collected, effortless feel. Alongside this, sculptural objects, aged metals and unexpected accessories introduce contrast and individuality, helping interiors feel personal, expressive and full of story rather than predictable.
